The Guardians

Well, I'm back with an update...

Things are a bit sketchy, at the moment, but here's what we know. A little over a week ago, a group of heroes from a parallel Earth arrived and made contact with Legacy. Years ago, Apex crossed through their timeline, searching for his own and they recognized his energy signature when they arrived.

Anyway, here's a quick snap taken shortly after they arrived. The robot goes by Mech, who comes from a timeline where Earth is populated by intelligent robots. The girl is Cassandra, a powerful telekinetic. The burly guy is Mega and his brother Wildstar is shown seated. The way I understand it, Wildstar had been holding an energy shield around them while another member of their team, The Guardians, opened the dimensional gateway. He was called Mantra and didn't make it through.

From what they had to tell us, their world is just this side of Hell, at this point. As a result of what they're calling "timequakes" (Dr. Omega called them 'spatio-temporal hyperdimensional disruption events'), their sun threw off a portion of its photosphere, in a kind of mini-nova. Word from transdimensional sources indicate that there have been worse events in other timelines. Someone said that many timelines were completely destroyed. The effect seems to be dissipating, but that's small comfort for people whose world has been broiled.

Using the Elysian transportals, we managed to rescue several hundred survivors, who have been living in deep caves and underground shelters for the last several weeks. That's hundreds out of 5 billion. One curious feature of their timeline is that while it parallels ours in most ways, it's only 1985, there.

One other oddity. There was a creature prowling the wastes on the surface. There's no breathable air, there, except deep underground and without plants and animals, that won't be replenished for eons, if life manages to reappear at all. This thing, though, was acting line it was searching for something. When we approached, it attacked and Apex fought with it for awhile, but we had more important things to do. The thing didn't seem powerful enough to have caused the disaster, but it was suspicious. And, according to the refugees, it wasn't native.

We're still searching for survivors, but it's looking less and less likely we'll find anyone. More later...
